CECILIA ANN (FRENCH) MULLINS

Cecilia Ann (French) Mullins passed away in the early morning hours of Wednesday, April 17th, at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon. She was 86.

Cecilia was born in Clintwood on September 4, 1937. She graduated Clintwood High School (Dickenson Memorial) in 1955. On June 9th, 1957, she married Douglas R. Mullins, and they resided in Johnson City, Tn. Between 1957 and 1968, she and Doug had two children and lived in Johnson City, Clintwood, and Alexandria. In 1968, Cecilia and her family moved back to Clintwood where she resided until her retirement from the Dickenson County Department of Social Services in 2000, where she had worked since 1971. From 2000 until her passing, she and her husband lived in Abingdon, where they enjoyed an active social life and reconnected with many other retired Clintwoodians. Cecilia was an avid Clintwood Greenwave sports fan (creator of the original Wonder Wave mascot costume from the 70's & 80's), an accomplished painter, a lover of dogs, and a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Cecilia was preceded in death by her parents Noel E. French and Mary (Childress) French, and her two beloved dogs, Lucky and Annie.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Douglas R. Mullins of Abingdon; 2 sons, D.R. Mullins (Robin) of Shady Valley, Tn. and Tony Mullins (Valerie) of Morristown, Tn.; 3 grandchildren, Jordan McCarthy (Danny) of Los Angeles, Ca., Tyler Mullins of Bristol, and Tanner Mullins (Alyssa) of Abingdon; 1 step-grandson, Sylvan Williams of Swannanoa, NC; 2 great- grandchildren, Link and Rivvy Mullins of Abingdon; 2 sisters, Kay King of Clintwood and Noelle Sutherland of Abingdon; 2 nieces and 1 nephew. A celebration of life service for immediate family was held in Shady Valley, Tn. on May 27th, 2024, at 2 p.m.

Frost Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
