MARIE WILLIS WALLACE

HAYSI Marie Willis Wallace, age 73, passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 4, 2022. 

She was the daughter of the late Bana and Mellie Willis.  She was a 1967 graduate of Haysi High School and attended Splashdam Freewill Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her seven brothers, Foy, Jack, Buster, Gene, Andy, Amos and Bana Willis; one sister, Joann Steele and a sister-in-law Teresa Wallace. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

Marie is survived by her loving husband of 52 years Roy “Pete” Wallace; two daughters, Amy (Jesse) Yates, Kayla (Clay) Powers; one son, Ryan (Shelia) Wallace; two sisters, Mae Mullins and Debbie Kirby; brother-in-law, Darrell Wallace; sisters-in-law, Brenda Willis, Sondra (Steve) Harris and Brenda Willis; eleven grandchildren, Caden, Cooper, Kinsley, Kiera, Kelsey, Carson, Kamrie, Kallie, Landon, Kylie and Kendall and special niece, Chandra Willis also survive.

Funeral services were conducted at 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 7, 2022 at Haysi Funeral Home with Danny Sluss officiating. Pallbearers included grandsons, Caden and Cooper Powers, Carson Wallace, Landon Yates, sons-in-law, Clay Powers and Jesse Yates, nephews, Eddie Steele, Tim Steele, Chris Steele, Bana Willis, Jr., BJ Garrison and Brooks Horne.  Honorary pallbearers were Darrell Wallace, Jamie Willis, David Willis, Kyle Willis, Kelly Willis, Danny Willis and Giles Sykes. The family received friends after 6 p.m. on Thursday prior to the funeral service. Graveside services were conducted at 12 p.m. Friday, July 8, 2022 at the Bartley Cemetery on Big Ridge.
