RUTH MOONEY LILLY
CLINTWOOD Ruth Mooney Lilly age 94, passed away at Holston Valley Medical Center, Kingsport, Tenn. She was a lifelong resident of Clintwood and has been a member of Valley View Freewill Baptist Church since 1955. Mrs. Lilly volunteered for many years at Dickenson Community Hospital. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Mrs. Lilly was preceded in death by her husband, William Fred Lilly; parents, George and Ethel Mooney; brothers, Tolby, Crit, Cossie, Denver, and Taylor Mooney; sisters, Snoda Bowman, Maggie Vanover, Edna Rose and June Lilly.
Survivors include two sons, William Freddie Lilly, Jr. and wife Debbie and Dennis Lilly all of Clintwood; her brother, Amos Mooney of Lexington, Ky.; grandchildren, Jessica Dunford and Ronald of Wise, Michael Lilly and Lora of Gate City; great-grandchildren, Cameron, Olivia, Conner, Colin, Zoe and Cole; several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Thursday, July 7, 7 p.m. at Clintwood Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Joe Glenn Sluss officiating. Family and friends were requested to meet at Phipps Memorial Cemetery, Clintwood Friday, July 8, at 1 p.m. for a graveside service. Family and friends served as pallbearers.
