TENNESSEE FREDA KENDRICK

CLINTWOOD - Tennessee Freda Kendrick age 95, passed away Thursday, July 14, 2022 at her residence. She was a born in Logan, WV, the daughter of the late Oscar and Nellie Phipps. Mrs. Kendrick was married to the love of her life, George Merrell Kendrick. She was a devout Christian and had been a member of Valley View Freewill Baptist Church since 1955. She was choir leader and president of the Ladies Auxiliary at Valley View. Mrs. Kendrick was a volunteer at Dickenson County Medical Center and Heritage Hall of Clintwood. She was a member of the Eastern Star and lifetime member of Clintwood Rescue Squad. Mom was all about love and shared God’s love with everyone she met.

Mrs. Kendrick was preceded in death by her husband, George Kendrick; parents, Oscar and Nellie Phipps; stepmother, Jessie Mae Phipps; son, Bob Bob Kendrick; 2 brothers, Ivas and Charles Phipps; one sister, June Buchanan; two grandchildren, Kimberly Pratt and Amy Eldridge.

Survivors include three sons, Roy Kendrick and Sandy of Salem, Charles Kendrick and Leah of Salem, Ron Kendrick and Jennifer of Clintwood; three daughters, Sue Riggle and Bob of Goode, Pat Phillips and John of Clintwood, Tammy Mullins and Carroll of Wise; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; Gaynell Savage, Linda Phipps, James Phipps and Chloe, Gordon Buchanan and Denise all of whom she thought of as her other children; special sissy, Beuna Vanover; rival sons, Clynis and John C. Phillips; loving caregiver and special daughter-in-law, Jennifer Kendrick; along with many other countless relatives and friends.

The family received friends Sunday, July 17, from 5 until 7 p.m. at Valley View Freewill Baptist Church. Services began at 7 p.m. Pastors Lynn Vanover, Kelly Fleming and Frank Hall officiating. Funeral services were conducted Monday, July 18, 1 p.m. at the church. Burial followed at Phipps Memorial Cemetery, Clintwood. Family and friends served as pallbearers.
