Dickenson County Child Care Center reopened

May 26, 2021

The Dickenson County Child Care Center reopened on Thursday, May 20 after remaining closed for over a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The center will welcome back children enrolled in 2020 with new health and safety precautions in place and will be enrolling new children in the coming weeks.

“We know how much parents rely on this childcare center and we’re thrilled to be able to reopen safely,” says Amy Compton, director of child and family development at People Incorporated. “We are looking forward to finally welcoming children and families back.”

The childcare center will require staff and children ages 3 and older to wear masks during the day. Regular breaks from masks will be provided for children when they can be socially distanced, such as when playing outside or during mealtimes. Staff will also provide extra cleaning during the day. Deep cleanings will be provided during the weekends.

The Dickenson County Child Care Center provides affordable daycare to qualifying families in Dickenson County with supervised activities designed to promote learning. The center offers full-day infant-toddler and preschool classrooms, before and after school care and full-day summer care for children three to 12 years old.
