Expect delays next week on Route 83

Plan ahead for possible long delays if you expect to drive on Route 83 between Clintwood and Fremont next week.

According to the Virginia Department of Transportation, replacement of two large pipes beneath the road will inhibit traffic flow from Monday, July 26 to Friday, July 30 during daylight hours.

At times, traffic will be stopped for 15 to 20 minutes so that crews can place the pipes and cover them with gravel.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible.

Also, there may be slight delays because of work along the shoulder between Route 621 (Georges Fork) and the Wise County line July 22-23 and July 26-30.
