Paramont Contura, LLC is applying for bond reduction on Permit No. 1102218 located in Wise and Dickenson Counties approximately 3.1 miles northwest of Herald off Routes 649 and 645. This permit consists of 122.93 acres which are bonded under the Virginia Coal Surface Mining Reclamation Fund (Pool Bond) for $26,100 in the form of insurance surety. As provided by 4VAC25-130-800.40 of the Virginia Coal Surface Mining Reclamation Regulations, the Applicant is requesting a bond reduction of $26,100. The remaining 122.93 acres will be deleted.

This bond reduction request is based on the following Phase III reclamation: The areas proposed for bond release have been reclaimed, revegetated, and the post-mining land uses of unmanaged forest/undeveloped land, fish and wildlife habitat - wetlands and industrial - gas well(s)/ pipeline(s) have been achieved. The reclamation work was completed March 2015:

Any person with a valid legal interest which might be adversely affected by this proposal, or an officer or head of any federal, state or local government agency or authority, may within 30 days of September 22, 2021 submit written comments or objections concerning this bond release, and may also request, in writing, that the Division of Mined Land Reclamation hold an Informal Conference concerning this application.
