BENNY RAY HAMMONS

Benny Ray Hammons, age 60 of Nealy Ridge, passed away Friday, September 17, 2021 at Dickenson Community Hospital in Clintwood. He was a son of the late William and Edith Counts Hammons. Benny was a 1979 graduate of Haysi High School, last employed as an auto body repairman and was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Calvin and Myrtle Stanley Hammons, Lonnie and Vallie Edwards Counts, and nephew, Nathan Anderson.

Survivors include three sisters; Brenda (Larry French) Anderson of Abingdon, Linda (Garnie) Sykes of Bee and Donna (Rodney & Timothy Potter) Wallace of Clinchco; nephews, Shane (Nina) Sykes and Jordan Anderson, and great-nieces, Hannah Rasnake and Kerri Rasnake.

Funeral services were conducted 7 p.m. Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at Haysi Funeral Home.  Graveside services were held 11 a.m. Thursday, September 23 at the Nathan Edwards Cemetery, Edwards Ridge.  Pallbearers were nephews, Shane Sykes and Jordan Anderson, family and friends.  The family received friends after 6 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home prior to the funeral service.  Online condolences may be sent to www.haysifuneral.com.
