DOROTHY JEANETTE HARRIS

Dorothy Jeanette Harris, age 86 of Davenport, passed away December 15, 2021 at Heritage Hall in Clintwood. She was the daughter of the late Vernon and Lula Yates Colley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Harris; a son, Greg Harris; sister, Ruth E. Lambert and brother-in-law, Alfred; brother, Ernest Colley, and her father and mother-in-law Bill and Rusha Harris.

She was a member of Sandlick Primitive Baptist Church, was the owner of G & J Grocery, Harris Trailer Park and was last employed with Buchanan County Schools having taught at Council for many years.

Survivors include her daughters, Jill Gibson and Zoe Harris; granddaughters, Kelli Harris and Kylee Harris; great-granddaughter, Jadlyn Harris; a great-great-grandson, Jasper; her daughter-in-law, Marsha, nieces and nephews and her many teaching friends also survive.

Funeral services were conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at Haysi Funeral Home with Elders Garnell Gilbert and Jim Duty officiating. Burial followed in the Breeding Cemetery, Davenport. Family and friends served as pallbearers. The family received friends after 11 a.m. on Tuesday prior to the funeral service at 1 p.m.  Online condolences may be sent to www.haysifuneral.com.
