MINNIE ARLENE DEEL

BIRCHLEAF - Minnie Arlene Deel, age 95, of Skyline Drive, passed away Friday, December 17, 2021 at Heritage Hall Healthcare in Grundy. Born in Buchanan County, she was a daughter of the late James W. and Pricey Jane Mullins Deel. She was a homemaker and member of Russell Prater Old Regular Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Franklin Deel; a daughter and son-in-law, Pat (Tony) Compton; daughter-in-law, Mary Deel; brothers, Tarzan, Christopher, Richard, James, and General Deel and sisters, Euna, Nancy, Vernie, Helen, Thelma, Annie Laurie and Georgia.

Survivors include her children, Joan (Ralph) Coleman, Marcella (Doug) O’quinn, and Jim Deel all of Birchleaf, Ronnie (Patti) Deel of Bristol, Tenn. and Gallie (Beverley) Deel of Bee; a sister, Norma Thomas; grandchildren, Renita, Bryon, Shana, Carmie, Ginger, Nathan, Savannah, Matthew, Christopher, and Amanda; great-grandchildren, Roseanna, Jessica, Alan Cole, Patrick, Alston, Kassidy, Nateli, Clark, Julie, Ryliegh, Maddie, Anna, Cadee, and Ainsley, and great-great-grandchildren, Emilee, Kynlee, Jordan, Dallas, and Ary.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, December 20, 2021 at Haysi Funeral Home with Elders Arnold Bailey, Danny Yates, Steve Lyall, Eddie Newsome, and Frank Newsome officiating. Burial followed in the Mountain View Cemetery, Rakes Ridge. Family and friends served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were friends from Rakes Ridge. The family received friends after 12 noon on Monday, prior to the funeral service.
