BILLIE ETTA FLEMING

Billie Etta Fleming, of Clintwood, entered eternity on July 30, 2022, to forever know Heaven’s unending joy and everlasting peace. Etta was preceded in death by the love of her life, Denny; son, William Wesley (Billy) Fleming; parents, William and Evelyn Dotson, sister, Becky Barrett and brother, Johnny Dotson.

Those remaining to mourn her passing, but forever cherish her memory, are son, Brent Allen Fleming; granddaughter, Jade Stanley (Jeremy) of Meadowview; two great-grandchildren; sister, Jane Sutherland (Gary) of Bristol; brother, Tom Dotson (Mary) of Meadowview; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends and her beloved dog, Susie.

Etta was born on June 15, 1948. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. Indeed, her family was her life and their well-being was her utmost concern and greatest joy. She was of the Baptist faith.

Etta loved flowers and was a skilled floral designer. She was a true “Craftsperson”, with amazing gifts of creativity and style. She owned and operated a floral shop in Clintwood for a period of time. She assisted with the management and operation of the Bay Service Station, Clintwood, which she and her husband owned. She was an avid Green Wave sports fan.

The family would like to express their deep gratitude to the Wythe County Community Hospital ICU nurses for the excellent care, along with the sweet compassion, they provided to Etta. As well, the family would like to thank Sheila Meade, Etta’s life-long, best friend, for all the love, support and help she gave Etta through the years, but especially over the last several months.

A private graveside service will be held on Friday, August 5, 2022, at Phipps Memorial Cemetery, Clintwood, with Tim Mullins officiating. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
