BARBARA VANOVER

Barbara Hazel Kendrick Vanover, age 91, passed away Monday December 19, 2022 at Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Clintwood after a long illness. Barbara was of the Christian faith and a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved gardening, reading, making quilts, crocheting and she was also a wonderful cook and baker.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Harvel G. Vanover; son in-law, J.D. Trussell; parents, John Smith Kendrick and Mertie Hawkins Kendrick and fourteen brothers and sisters. She was the last surviving member of her Kendrick family.

Survivors include three sons, Greg Vanover, Culpepper, John F. Vanover, Clintwood and Carl (Greta) Vanover, Clintwood; two daughters, Carmeletta Vanover, Clintwood and Tina (James) Rose, Kingsport, Tn.; grandchildren, Ginger Klein, Matthew Vanover, Joshua Vanover, Elizabeth Dean, Miriam Vanover, Amanda Dale, Daniel Vanover, Colin Rose, Geoffrey Klein, Caleb Rose, Chloe Rose, Courtney Rose and Cayden Rose and fifteen great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, December 22 at the Mullins Funeral Home Chapel at 11 a.m. with John Farmer officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at the Vanover Cemetery, Blowing Rock section of Clintwood. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
