ELDER JOEL GLENN TURNER

Elder Joel Glenn Turner age 83 of Astor Drive passed away Thursday, April 20, 2023 at Bristol Regional Medical Center.  Born in Dickenson County, he was a son of the late Frenchman and Gracie Barton Turner. He was a 1957 graduate of Haysi High School, a member and Elder of Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church and was last employed as a security guard.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Etta Colley Turner; sister, Exie Rose and three brothers, Hobert Turner, Danny Turner, and Robert Turner.

Survivors include his daughter, Brenda Charlene Turner; two sons, Noel Turner and Vincent Turner all of Abingdon; five grandchildren, Brock Leonard, Cody Stanley and fiancé Kaitlyn, Tasha Turner, Trevor Turner and Nicki Turner; and seven great-grandchildren, Sadie Jane, Sophie Rebecca, Liam, Levi, Jaxon, Kylie and Teagan.

Funeral service was conducted at1 p.m. Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at Haysi Funeral Home with Elder Bill Campbell officiating.  Entombment followed in the Colley Cemetery, Lazarus Branch.  Family and friends served as pallbearers.  The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
