NORMA MULLINS

May 11, 2023

Norma Mullins of Clintwood, age 99, went to her eternal home in the Promised Land to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 6, 2023.

Norma was faithful servant to the Lord and to her family, church, and the Mullins Ridge community. Her smile could light up a room and you could always count on Sister Norma’s prayers.

Norma was born to the late Rev. Charlie J. and Bessie Sluss in 1923. She married the love of her life, the late Garland Mullins in 1943, while he was still on active duty during WWII. They enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening, and flea marketing together. Norma lived her entire life on her family’s old homestead and worked the land until she was in her 90s. She was a dedicated wife and mother to her two sons along with caring for many other children in the family and in the community. She was known as “Granny” to her grandchildren. Norma was a faithfully devoted member of Cumberland Church of the Brethren and Pound River Church for 88 years. She enjoyed canning, baking, cooking, quilting, crocheting, and caring for her everyone around her. Her apple pies were very famous around these parts. Norma was faithful in what it meant to “love they neighbor”. She was so kind and a bright light to everyone who took the time to get to know her. She leaves a beautiful testimony behind.

In addition to her parents and husband, Norma was preceded in death by her brothers Afton and Cline Sluss, grandson Scott Charles Mullins and step grandson, Stevie Combs.
