THOMAS ROGER OWENS

Thomas Roger Owens, age 80, passed away on May 9,2023 in Orange. He was born in Haysi. He attended the Virginia School for the Deaf and Blind in Staunton and graduated from there in 1963. He lived most of his life in Haysi, where he worked in the coal mines. After working

in the coal mines, he completed both handyman and land- scaping projects. He later moved to Mineral to be near his daughter and her children. He was a wonderful father and grandfather. He loved to go hunting and fishing. In 1977, he killed a deer that had 36 points. He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Effie Owens, and his brother, Jackie Owens.

Survivors include his daughter, Patricia de la Rama (husband Fernando de la Rama) of Mineral; grandchildren, James de la Rama of Richmond, and Isabelle de la Rama of Lebanon; great-grandchildren, Rowan Edwards and Eliza Edwards of Lebanon; and one brother, Danny Owens of St. Augustine, Fl.

He will be cremated. A memorial service will be held in Haysi at a later date.
