REV. DANNY EARL OWENS SR.

Reverend Danny Earl Owens, Sr., age 82, of Haysi, formally of Bee, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, August 15, 2023. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Phyllis Tean Barton Owens; his parents, Earl Owens and Ona Owens and one infant brother, Kenneth Ray Owens.

He is survived by his wife, Debbie Owens; daughter, Beverly Owens Musick (Kermit) of Lebanon; son, Danny Owens, Jr. (Robin) of Mendota; step-daughter, Roxanna Messer (Scott) of Dryden, and step-son, Matthew Viers of Haysi; grandchildren, Heather Evans (Patrick) of Abingdon, Codie Barton (Amanda) of Lebanon, Danielle Owens of Chattanooga, Tn., Miranda Hall (Shawn) of Bristol, Ryan Messer of Dryden; great-grandchildren, Samantha Evans and William Evans, and brothers, Donald Owens (Dean) and Clayton Owens (Barbara) both of Bee.

He was the pastor of the Walnut Grove Holiness Church, which he built, for many years. He was of the Pentecostal faith.

A Funeral service was conducted 1 p.m. Sunday, August 20, 2023 with Jeff Tiller, James Tiller and Bill Clifton officiating. Burial followed in the Duty Cemetery, Bee.  Denver Owens, David Owens, Larry Owens, Gary Owens, Kermit Musick and Shawn Hall served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Codie Barton, Matthew Viers, Rick Owens and Jeff Tiller. The family received friends after 6 p.m. on Saturday, August 19 at the funeral home where an evening service was held at 7 p.m. Online condolences may be sent to www.haysifuneral.com.
