CARL VERNON MULLINS

Carl Vernon Mullins, 88, of Hot Springs, died Sunday, July 30, 2023 at Bath Community Hospital in Hot Springs. Mr. Mullins was born on September 10, 1934 in Jenkins, Ky., a son of the late Logan and Ester Justice Mullins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a step-son, Butch Tucker and one sister, Saundra Ireson.

Carl was a 1953 graduate of Dickinson County Memorial High School. He retired from Dominion Energy in 1991 as a Construction and Safety Supervisor. Retirement did not slow him down, as he was always busy - be it tinkering around the house, building, and tending to his HAM radios, or any number of projects he was working on. He was a private pilot, owning and flying several planes during his life. He enjoyed riding Harley-Davidson motorcycles and was a member of the Retread Motorcycle Club. He also enjoyed classic cars, boating, camping, and being outdoors.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 50 years, Mary Basham Mullins of Hot Springs; one daughter, Pam Mullins of Selma; one son, Joe and Twana Mullins of Orlando, Fl.; a sister, Claudette and Mike Tompkins of Clintwood; a brother-in-law, Bill Ireson of Pound; one nephew, Troy and Peggy Jonus, of Blountsville, Tn.; and two great-nephews, Charles Logan Jonus and Andrew Jonus, both of Blountville, Tn.

A memorial service was held Saturday, August 5, 2023 at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Arritt Funeral Home with the Rev. Andrew Baek officiating, assisted by Rev. Lynn Wright. Following the service, the family received their friends at the funeral home.
