MINNIE PHIPPS

Minnie Phipps gained her wings and went to her heavenly home October 17, 2023. Minnie was born February 16, 1929 to the late Russell and Hessie Haynes. Minnie was a devoted Christian and she enjoyed singing with her gospel group (the Gospel Lights) until her health no longer allowed. Minnie loved her God, her family and her friends. She was a loving mother and grandmother, and her family’s biggest prayer warrior. Minnie was a member of Valley View Church in Clintwood.

Minnie is preceded in death by her husband Poley Phipps; brothers, Alonzo, Landon, Marlin, Clint, Wick and Tildan Haynes; sisters, Winnie Mullins, Dolly Hibbitts, Estelle Mullins, Joyce Willis, Helen Hawkins, Rachel Haynes, London Rose, Grace Caldwell and Julie McFall, and one grandson, Benjamin Cox.

Survivors include her two daughters, Glema Jean (Landon) Deel and Sheila (Lee) Cox; one brother, Tollie (Georgia) Haynes; one sister, Augustus Fleming; four grandchildren, Recardo (Rebecca) Deel, Poley (Mary) Deel, Brian (Valery) Cox, Tonya Cox; eight great-grandchildren, Sarah (Cody) Deel Redin, Brandon (Deidre) Cox, Austin (Elizabeth) Deel, Samuel Deel, Andrew (Lani) Deel, Brianna Cox, Britney (Nikalos) Pridemore and Morgan (Karlie) Cox; seven great-great-grandchildren, Elijah, Cassidy, Kelson, Kora, Monroe, Lucian and Levi.

Family received friends Saturday October 21, 2023 at Valleyview Freewill Baptist Church from 12 p.m. until 1 p.m. where a funeral service was conducted at 1 p.m. with Clergymen Lynn Vanover officiating, burial followed in the Phipps Memorial Cemetery.
