Paramont Contura, LLC is applying for bond release on Permit No.1202196 located in

Dickenson County 1.5 miles northwest of Bucu on Fryingpan Creek off state route 600. This permit consists of 49.22 acres. As provided by 4 VAC 25-130-800.40 of the Virginia Coal Surface Mining Reclamation Regulations, the Applicant is requesting that the current total bond amount of $52,900 in the form of insurance surety posted for this permit be released.

This bond release request is based on the following Phase III reclamation:

The bond reduction request is based upon completion of 8 full growing seasons. The areas were backfilled, regraded, seeded and trees were planted as of June 2016. The post-mining land use of Unmanaged Forest/Undeveloped Land has been successfully implemented with successful vegetative cover and tree growth. The post-mining land use of Industrial - Gas Well(s)/Pipeline(s) has been successfully implemented.

Any person with a valid legal interest which might be adversely affected by this proposal, or an officer or head of any federal, state or local government agency or authority, may within 30 days of June 5, 2024 submit written comments or objections concerning this bond release, and may also request, in writing, that the Mined Land Repurposing Program hold an informal conference concerning this application.
