THOMAS C. PLAINE

Thomas C. Plaine, age 82, of Clintwood, entered his heavenly home peacefully, surrounded by the loves of his life on July 11, 2024.

Tom was born in Columbiaville, Mi. on October 11, 1941. He was preceded in death by his mother, Muriel Gurd; father, Albert Plaine; step-father, Walter Gurd; grandparents, Ike and Lillian Newcombe; sister, Darlene Hyder; brothers, Mark Gurd and Rod Gurd.

Tom is survived by the love of his life of 52 years, Diana Plaine of Clintwood; son, Jeff (Annette) Plaine of Glendale, Az.; daughters, Cindy (Brad) Fleming of Clintwood, Maranda Ramey (Nate) of Clintwood; brother, Mike Gurd (Wendy) of Otisville, Mi.; sister, Debi Gurd of Onancock; grandchildren, Amanda Plaine, Jessica Plaine, Alex Plaine (Caroline), Katy (Morgan) Brooks, Zack Plaine, Meggan Ramey, Byron Ostrander, Miana Abshire (Trent), Elijah Fleming and Haddon Fleming; and great-grandchildren, Peydon Mullins, Kamden Brooks, Archer Abshire, Auggie Poston, and Noah Plunkett.

Tom was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a United States Army Veteran, who served in Vietnam and was a member of the Honor Guard, VFW Post 8979. He retired after 31 and half years from General Motors.

Honorary pallbearers were sons in-law, grandsons, great-grandsons, James Greear, Bobby Steinhauser, Garth Meade, Mark Whitman, Bub Ennis, Paul Payne, Pokey Mullins, Crawford Ramey, Doug Fleming, and the men of Dwale Community Church.

A special thank you to the staff, nurses and physicians at Norton Community Hospital.

A military service was held with Tommy Austin officiating.  A Celebration of Life was held on Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at Mullins Funeral Home Chapel with friends being received at 6 p.m. and services conducted at 7 p.m.
