DARRELL WAYNE ADDISON
My husband, Darrell Addison, described below by the facts of his life, closed his eyes and breathed his last in the early morning hours of Sunday, August 18, 2024.
I am reminded, however, as I look out on the purple morning glories, the buzzing humming birds, and the wild birds flapping their wings around the bird feeder, just how much Darrell loved life, living, and all the things of life.
Darrell made sure our house was a home: he was no longer able to do much himself but made sure seeds and plants were planted and all critters were fed. Especially our three indoor cats, Bear (his special cat), Sheba, and Little Miss. He loved those fur persons and fed them from his plate.
The great love of his life has been football, a sport full of rough and tumble, the life of gridiron from play to play, week to week. He almost made it to this fall season. Thought he would be with Ronnie on the sidelines this year to cheer on the John I. Burton Raiders, he will be there in spirit.
Finally, as those of us listed below (and many others) look out at the beauty of all the living things he loved and enjoyed everything in his life, we will remember Darrell and hold him ever dear in our hearts.
Born in Norton, he was a son of the late Arvil and Christine Gibson Addison. He was a United States Army Veteran having served in Vietnam. He was last employed as an oil truck driver.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Amy Addison and Amanda Asare.
Survivors include his wife Lynda Addison; five daughters, Elizabeth Boone, Jonesville, Rebecca Henry, Clintwood, Stephanie Beach, Kingsport, Tn., Amy Burke, Pennington Gap, and Patricia Addison, Wise; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; three brothers, Roger (Debbie) Addison, of NC, Ronnie (Rhonda) Addison, Norton, and Scott Addison, Grundy; one sister, Donna Combs (Tim Rose) Clintwood, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be conducted 7 p.m. Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at Haysi Funeral Home. Online condolences may be sent to www.haysifuneral.com.
