On Sept. 4, the Virginia Department of Energy and Ninth District U.S. Rep. Morgan Griffith presented a $525,000 check to Bird Dog Distributors LLC in Clintwood. The plastics manufacturer received a federal abandoned mine land economic revitalization grant for expansion that is expected to create up to 43 jobs over five years and support an additional 12 jobs, according to a press release.
