CATHY DEEL

Cathy Deel, 70 of Haysi was born on Feb. 19, 1954 in Grundy and passed away on Sept. 20, 2024 in the Holston Valley Medical Center in Kinsport, Tn. She was the daughter of Monroe and Nell Mullins Bailey, who preceded her in death. Cathy was a member of the Emmanuel Regular Baptist Church in Haysi and a teacher in the Dickenson County School system. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Percy Ralph Deel.
Survivors are her son, Ralph Nathan Deel of Haysi; her brother, Tony (Cathy) Bailey of Winchester, Ky.; her niece, Ashley (Clifton) Kennon; her nephew, Bo Edwards and her sister in-law, Susan Edwards.
Visitation was Monday, Sept. 23, 2024 at 1 p.m. in the Emmanuel Regular Baptist Church in Haysi. A funeral service was conducted following the visitation at 2 p.m. in the church with Toby Bailey and others officiating. Burial followed in the Bailey Owens Cemetery in Haysi.
