Christena Sykes Fuller, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother passed away on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at the age of 90 after an extended illness. Christena “Tene” was born May 12, 1934 at Tarpon. She attended Haysi High School, Haysi. Christena was a long-time employee of Clintwood Garment Company, Clintwood. She was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church of Clinchco. Christena enjoyed many kinds of arts and crafts. She particularly enjoyed painting, and she was very good at it.
Christena was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Bessie Yates Sykes; her devoted husband of 58 years, Robert Stacey Fuller; sisters, Launa Fletcher and Betty Edwards; brothers, Alvin and Haskel Sykes.
Survivors include her daughter, Freddie Gayle Stanley (James Jr.) of Clinchco; one grandchild, Adam W. Stanley; one sister, Margie Gumm; and brothers, Elmer, Franklin Sherld, and Bobby Dexter.
Family received friends Friday September 13 at 12, noon with a funeral service that began at 1 p.m. in the Mullins Funeral Home Chapel with clergy Scottie Moore officiating. Immediately following the Chapel Services, the funeral procession continued on to the Temple Hill Cemetery at Castlewood where a short service in the Chapel of Love was conducted Nephews and friends of the deceased served as Pallbearers.
