Ella Nora Ramsey Carmony of Abingdon went home to the Lord on Saturday, October 5, 2024, surrounded by family and friends. Ella Nora was born on July 11, 1946, in Tenso.
Ella Nora worked as a bookkeeper and secretary for the Nicewonder family and Wolf Hills Farm for over 36 years. She was also secretary and treasurer for the Dickenson County Historical Society, Mountain People and Places, and Greendale United Methodist Church for many years.
Ella Nora is proceeded in death by her parents, Samuel Rowland and Grace Jaden Ratliff Ramsey; her husband, Thomas Carmony; step-granddaughter, Miranda Warf; brothers-in-law, James Hamilton and Jerry Benfield and sister-in-law, Carroll Benfield.
Ella Nora is survived by her step-children, Bill Carmony and Carla of Pennington Gap; Shelley Warf and husband Jeff of Ewing; Bruce Carmony and wife Loraine of Jonesville; Rhonda Scott and husband Oscar of Jonesville; Michael Carmony and wife Ashley of Coeburn, and Marley Wilson and husband Josh of Rosehill; brother-in-law, Greg Carmony and wife Louise of Pennington Gap; sisters-in-law, Kathy Wilder and husband Danny of Jonesville and Mary Hamilton of Dryden. Fifteen step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren. Ella is also survived by a host of cousins, special friends, co-workers, and her Coal Mountain Elementary and Baileysville High School classmates who were like her second family.
A visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at Frost Funeral Home, with a funeral service to follow at 6 p.m. in the Frost Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Greg Carmony of Pennington Gap and Pastor David Stancil officiating. The committal service will be held Thursday, October 10, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Lee Memorial Gardens in Pennington Gap. Those wishing to attend are asked to arrive at the cemetery by 10:45 a.m.
