Poplar Famine in Dickenson County

This photo, which can be found in the book, Meet Virginia’s Baby, is of virgin poplar timber in Dickenson County in the early 1900s. The trees were logged by Yellow Poplar Lumber Company in 1910.  Stands of trees such as these were common in the early days of the county.
