BARBARA SUE MULLINS
November 05, 2024
Barbara Sue Mullins, age 84, our beloved mother, went to her heavenly home on Thursday, October 31, 2024. She was the daughter of the late Thanie and Bethana Stanley Ramey. She was a life-long resident of Clintwood, graduating from Clintwood High School, Class of 1958, after attending Flemingtown School and Dickenson Memorial High School. She was a substitute teacher and a teacher’s aide with the Clintwood School System. She also thoroughly enjoyed her work in the Piggly Wiggly Greenhouse as she was an avid gardener with a green thumb. She loved her work with the many patients that she met while working for Dr. Samir Missak and Dickenson County Medical Center in the late 1990’s and early 2000’s. She also treasured the time spent with her loving husband, family and friends in her role as secretary/treasurer of the Cumberland Pine Mountain Trail Riders.
However, her greatest work was her time spent serving the Lord in various church activities at Pound River Church of the Brethren involving the youth and as clerk of Flemingtown Freewill Baptist Church until present. One of her greatest passions was her family, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and her time spent with them. Two of her greatest joys in life were her favorite drink, Coca-Cola, and her beautiful flowers and vegetable garden. As her mother passed the love of cooking and canning on to her, she passed it on to her children and grandchildren as well.
She is preceded in death by her parents and loving husband, George C. Mullins; her brothers, Curt Ramey, Hollis Ramey and Al Ray Ramey, and her loving son-in-law, Randy McCoy.
Survivors include the loves of her life, her daughters, Debbie McCoy, Clintwood, Peggy Jonus and husband Troy, Blountville, Tn., and Nancy Phillips and husband Clynis, Clintwood; her brother, Doug Ramey, and wife Jeanette, Knoxville, Tn., and sister, Clara Gould, Baltimore, Md.; her grandchildren, Brandy Hill and Waylon, Ryan McCoy, Logan Jonus and Katie, Andy Jonus; great-grandchildren, Christopher Thomas and Joni, Cassidy Thomas and Chanson, Morgan Hill, Colton McCoy and Annison Jonus; special nephews, Dave Ramey and Rick Ramey, along with several treasured nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral Services for Barbara Sue Mullins were conducted at 2 p.m., Monday, November 4, 2024. Visitation was from 1 p.m. until service time, with Brother Lester Mullins and Brother Tim Mullins officiating. A private burial followed at the Mullins Family Cemetery, Mullins Ridge. Pallbearers were family.
Proverbs 31:28: "Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her".
