PEGGY SUE SYKES BARTON

Peggy Sue Sykes Barton, age 87, passed away Friday, December 13, 2024, in Lebanon. Born in Dickenson County, she was the daughter of the late Earl L. and Robie Mullins Sykes. She was of the Baptist faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Channe Runnels Barton; son, Lance Marcus Barton; sisters, Eula Geromette, Trula Wittington, Beulah Collins and Sally Turner, and a brother, Earl Sykes.
Survivors include her sons, Steve Barton (Char), Rick (Pam) Barton and Terry (Gail) Barton all of Haysi; one daughter, Cheryl Bostic of Bee; seven grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a brother in-law, Carol Turner; and sisters in-law, Louise Compton, Patsy Barton, and Pamela Barton.
Funeral services were conducted 7 p.m. Sunday, December 15, 2024, at the Haysi Funeral Home with Jerry Vitatoe and Leroy Yates officiating. Graveside services were at 11 a.m. Monday, December 16, 2024 in the Eivens Tiller Cemetery, Bee. The procession left the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. for those who wished to follow. Pallbearers were grandsons and nephews. The family received friends after 6 p.m. Sunday prior to the funeral service.
