Paramont Contura, LLC is applying for bond reduction on Permit No. 1202173 located in Dickenson County 4 miles southeast of Pound on Lick Fork. This permit consists of 48.62 acres. As provided by 4 VAC 25-130-800.40 of the Virginia Coal Surface Mining Reclamation Regulations, the Applicant is requesting that the current total bond amount of $327,400 in the form of Insurance Surety posted for this permit be reduced by $303,500.

This bond reduction request is based on the following Phase II reclamation: The area has been reclaimed and the post-mining land uses implemented. 47.62 acres of Unmanaged Forestry/Unman- aged Land post-mining land use was achieved with the seeding and planting of trees completed in February of 2023. 1.00 acres of Fish and Wildlife Habitat – Wetlands was achieved with the planting of trees in February of 2021.

Any person with a valid legal interest which might be adversely affected by this proposal, or an officer or head of any federal, state or local government agency or authority, may within 30 days of June 4, 2025 submit written comments or objections concerning this bond release, and may also request, in writing, that the Mined Land Repurposing Program hold an informal conference concerning this application.
