Paramont Contura, LLC of 5703 Crutchfield Drive, Norton, Virginia 24273 is applying to the Virginia Mined Land Repurposing Program (VMLR) for a renewal to Permit No. 1202198, Deep Mine #42, by Application 1011846. The permit area is approximately 41.58 acres. The deep mine is located in Dickenson County on Open Fork, approximately 3 miles southeast of McClure off of Routes 651, 652, and 627. The Nora, Virginia USGS 7.5 minute topographic quadrangle map was used to describe the permit location. Drainage will pass through sediment control structures and be discharged into Middle Fork, McClure Creek, and Open Fork of the McClure River of the Russell Fork. Discharge locations and the permit area may be viewed on the Renewal Map which is attached in Section 21.2 of the application. Additional discharge details are available in the NPDES Application attached in Section 5.15 of the application.

Any person with a valid legal interest which might be adversely affected by this proposal, or an officer or head of any federal, state or local government agency or authority, may within 30 days of April 1, 2026, submit written comments or objections concerning this application, and may also request, in writing, that the Mined Land Repurposing Program hold an Informal Conference concerning this application.
