This view of Clintwood shows the general area of the “shoot out.” The Dickenson County Court House is on the left. The Fleming Hotel is on the right of the photo on the same side of the street. It is the two story structure which has what appears to be a porch in the front. The old jail, which was built in 1904, is located between the two buildings. Ayers Shortt’s home is not in the photo as it was located a couple of blocks on down Main Street on the right of the photo. This photo, dated 1925, was found in E. J. Sutherland’s photo album.
