Clintwood farmers market opens June 12
Submitted By Brad Mullins, Extension Agent
The Clintwood Farmers Market will open on Friday, June 12. Hours of operation will be from 1 p.m. – 6 p.m. every Friday. This is the seventh year of operation for the farmers market. The coronavirus pandemic has resulted in some changes to the procedures at farmers markets which includes – No one is permitted in the Farmers Market if you have a fever or symptoms of COVID-19 or you have been exposed to a COVID-19 case in the past 14 days.
On-site shopping is allowed, as long as physical distancing guidelines are adhered to. Vendors working at the farmers markets must wear face coverings over their nose and mouth.
The Farmers Market will be located on Chase Street in Clintwood in the parking lot on the left between the Jettie Baker Center and Food City. The market was located here in the past and it seems to be the most popular and convenient location for vendors and consumers alike.
Healthy Bucks
Healthy Bucks at the Farmers Market continues to be offered thanks to the Columbus Phipps Foundation and is very popular at the market. It is a program that encourages children to purchase and consume more fruits and vegetables. Children ages 2-16 who visit the farmers market with a parent/guardian receive five $1 vouchers. Children can spend those vouchers to purchase fresh fruits, vegetables, eggs, and nuts.
