LOWELL WAYNE MULLINS

Lowell Wayne Mullins, age 63, of Jonesville passed away May 16, 2020 at Bristol Regional Hospital after a brief illness. Wayne graduated from Clintwood High School in 1976 and lived in Dickenson County until 2009 when he and Jeannie moved to Lee County.
He was the son of the late Freeman “Pigeye” and Nola Mullins of the Ramey Flats section of Clintwood. He worked from the age of 15 in a variety of public jobs until he became disabled in 2008. Wayne worked many years at the D&S Supermarket and Piggly Wiggly/Food City stores as a skilled meat cutter and often had customers request that he, specifically, prepare their orders.
Wayne married Jeannie Stanley in 1978. He loved and supported her throughout their nearly 42 years of marriage. His love, encouragement, and sacrifice helped make it possible for her to further her education to the graduate level.
Wayne enjoyed spending time outdoors riding horses, fishing, camping and hunting. Spring and fall hunting seasons always put a spark in his eyes and a spring in his step. He loved sharing his extensive knowledge of the outdoors with anyone that asked but only shared his “best” hunting and fishing spots with close friends.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, two infant sisters Ina Ruth and Connie Faye, sister Lovada Mullins, brother-in-law Bobby Mullins, sister-in-law Easter Mullins and his 4-legged “Babygirl “ Snowflake.
In addition to his wife, Jeannie, Wayne is survived by brothers, David Lee and Lewis Verdale (Jo); sister, Lois (Tarncy) Mullins along with four feline fur babies. He also leaves a plethora of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends to cherish his memory; special friends Berton, James O, Henry, Pooch and Billy Mack.
After a private viewing/visitation his body was cremated in accordance with his wishes. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorial gifts may be sent to the animal rescue/humane society of your choice, St. Jude’s Research Hospital, or the Lee County Imagination Library, c/o AppCAA 175 Military Lane, Gate City Va., 24251.
