ELMER CLAY EDWARDS
Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound. God’s divine love has shed His grace on Elmer Clay Edwards, who went to dwell in the House of the Lord on January, 20, 2021, where grief, sorrow nor pain will never touch him again.
Elmer was born on September 4, 1935, making him 85 years old. He was born in Dickenson County but lived his adult life and made his home in Lexington, NC. He was of the Old Regular Baptist faith.
Elmer is once again united with his beautiful wife, Veronica Campbell Edwards and his beloved, oldest son, Elliott Ralph Edwards. Also, preceding him in death are his parents Ineze McCartha and Elliott Ray Edwards; brothers, Kilby Joe, Casey Denver and Jeff Taylor Edwards.
Survivors, who will forever miss him are a daughter, Rita Leazer and husband Terry of Kennesaw, Ga.; a son, Wade Glen Edwards of Woodstock Ga.; a daughter-a-law, Becky Edwards of Lenior, Tenn.; grandchildren, Elizabeth Messina and husband David, Sarah Tilley and husband Brandon, Jacob Edwards and wife Brandi and Zackery Edwards; great grandchildren, Paxton, Joseph and three babies on the way; siblings, Gladys Counts of Clintwood, Juanita Sneeuwjagt of Clintwood, Roger Edwards and wife Frances of Clintwood, Jeanette Mullins and husband Bob of Palaka, Fl., Conn Edwards and wife Patty of Castlewood, Deborah Adkins and husband Rick of Cape Coral, Fl., Vonda Mullins and husband Larry of Clintwood, Todd Edwards and wife Charlotte of Clinchco; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Edwards of Locust Hill, Debbie Edwards of Brunswick, Oh. and Verba Fleming of Clintwood; a very special friend, Connie Corriher of China Grove, NC; a multitude of special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss Elmer very much.
Family received friends at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 23 at the Clintwood Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services began at Noon with Pastor Conn Edwards officiating. Burial followed in the Ray Edwards Family Cemetery, Back Bone Ridge Road. Pallbearers were Keith Barton, Jacob Edwards, Joe Edwards, John Mullins, Ray Lyall and Larry Mullins. Honorary pallbearers were Zackary Edwards, Brandon Tilley, David Messina and Terry Leazer.
