IRIS JO RAKES

Iris Jo Rakes, age 92, of Clintwood, passed Sunday, April 18, 2021, Mrs. Rakes was the daughter of the late John and Flora Keith and a lifelong resident of Clintwood. She was a member of Valley View Freewill Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School and was a member of the choir. Mrs. Rakes was a loving mother and grandmother.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Rakes was preceded in death by her husband, Clinton Rakes; two brothers, August Keith and Charles Keith and one grandson, Riley Childress.

Survivors include her son, Doug Rakes and Julie of Inman, SC; daughter, Debbie Childress and Jim of Clintwood; grandchildren, Bobby Childress and Libby, Angie Robinson and Tony, Heather Fultz and David, Sara Phillips and Kevin, Josh Childress, Morgan Rakes and Helen and Ethan Rakes and Elizabeth; great-grandchildren, Jade Fultz, Brooke Yates, Kayla Harris, Josie Childress, Kara Baynes, Aiden Fultz, Maggie Phillips, Piper Robinson, and Bella Robinson; eight great-great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other relatives; special caregiver, Paytria Bolling.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, April 20, 1 p.m. at the Clintwood Funeral Home Chapel with Lynn Vanover officiating. Family received friends beginning at Noon. Burial followed at the Stanley Cemetery, Commonwealth Drive, Clintwood. Grandsons served as pallbearers.
