BARNEY KEITH DEEL

Barney Keith Deel, age 60, passed away Sunday, September 12, 2021 at Clinch Valley Medical Center in Richlands. He was a lifelong resident of Dickenson County and a member of McClure Kiwanis Club. He was retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation after 40 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Sadie Deel and his sister, Teresa Deel.

Survivors include his wife, Sherry Deel; his children, Amanda (Ricky) Hill of Coeburn, Morgan (Kirstin) Deel of Dante and Kendra (Cody) Sexton of Haysi; two brothers, Larry Deel and Scott Deel of Dante; one sister, Pam (Matthew) McCarty of Pulaski; ten grandchildren; four nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on September 24, at 6 p.m. at the Haysi Church of Christ where a service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted for Saturday September 25, at 1 p.m. at the church with Mickey Tiller officiating. Burial will follow at the Deel family cemetery, “middle of the world section” Dante. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be employees of VDOT.
