Lonesome Pine Regional Library is excited to celebrate the 2021 National Endowment for the Arts’ Big Read program, featuring Ursula K. Le Guin’s A Wizard of Earthsea!

October 1–Fantasy “Funtasia” Kickoff

Each branch will feature a host of fantasy themed entertainment, snacks, and activities to ring in the NEA Big Read! Join us from 10 a.m.–4 p.m. to receive your free copy of A Wizard of Earthsea.

October 2–Autumn Festival

October 2–Fantasy Mad Libs Reader’s Theater

This virtual event will allow young patrons to be the stars of the show as they join via Zoom to help create and read a fantasy script.

October 7–Fantasy Art Workshop

Master the world of fantasy art with instructor Shawn Wallace at this free workshop at Haysi Community Library at 5:30 pm.

October 22–Fantasy across the Disciplines; Keynote Address

Come hear representatives from Art, Science, English, and History talk about how fantasy weaves in and out of the various disciplines. Keynote address will take place at 1:00 pm on the campus of UVA Wise. This activity is approved for UVA Wise Cultural Credit.

Visit your local branch for a full list of NEA Big Read Events. Fantasy programs for Little Pines, Baby Sprouts, and Trailblazers will take place at their normally scheduled times.
